The Briarcrest Regional Art Contest and Exhibition (BRACE) is coming November 4-12, 2015! Each year over 50 regional schools participate and over 400 pieces of art are exhibited in the foyer of the Sparks Chapel. It is a wondrous site to see. The talent that students K-12 in our area possess is truly stunning. The contest awards over $6,000 to the winners each year. Gifts from our generous donors make that possible. You too can be a part of this extraordinary community event by becoming a BRACE donor. By giving to BRACE you are impacting not just one student, not just one teacher, not just one school. You are impacting an entire community. Won't you join with us to encourage and celebrate the youth in our region? Showing your support is easy. Send any amount marked BRACE on the envelope to the school's address. Be embraced by the experience and don't forget to stop in to take a peak of the world through the eyes of our future. The exhibit is open to the public beginning November 6, 2015. Donations are tax deductible. 3rd Place “Little Local Fair” by Caroline Harris, 9th Grade The creative point of view, the lighting, the vivid colors, and the depth of field combine seamlessly to enhance the whimsical nature of this photo. Well done! 2nd Place "Beginner’s Luck" by Grace Turner, 10th Grade The impeccable timing of this shot paired with spot-on focus and perfect lighting make this shot a winner. Wonderful composition here. The viewer is easily drawn into the action. 1st place "Pulse" by Bailee Ross, 11th Grade The vibrant colors had such a strong impact that I couldn’t take my eyes off it at first. The photo captures a soft fluidity in contrast to a bold palette. The slightly off-centered subject adds to the sense motion. Prizes will be distributed to the winners Tuesday during activity period in Mrs. Fergus' room. Thank you to everyone who entered the contest. Each and every photo was of high quality. It was very difficult to choose the winners. You should all be proud of your photography skills!
Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend last night's Art Tasting and to all those who signed up to help with the various activities throughout the year. Your support is vital. Our wonderful school can offer outstanding programs and opportunities to our children only because we have incredible parents who share their time and talents to make those events happen. You are a blessing.
The high school art and literary magazine reached new heights with the most recent publication thanks to the hard work of many students: the editing staff, writers and artists. Read all about it on the BCHS website. Nice work everyone. Congratulations! |
